For all of the talk of Alaska’s product I just don’t see it, not much different than anyone else’s and certainly not close to what JetBlue offers.
Well, Jetblue has 70 A220's on the books. There isn't much they can't do with a CASM as low as a 175. I don't think there has ever been a 3 way merger and I really don't think its going to happen. I do think there will be mergers when this is all done. No way does the DOT or DOJ(whoever is in charge) let American get even bigger. United and SWA are too big on the west coast to allow them to buy Alaska. Delta is too big in Seattle to allow them to buy Alaska.
SWA would probably be allowed to buy Jetblue. Very little overlap. Hoping against that one personally. Alaska and Jetblue would be allowed. Almost no overlap. Huge network. Best merger I can imagine. It would open doors to Asia flights out of Seattle and Europe flights out of JFK and BOS. Pilots don't have to get hurt in that one and at this juncture in my career, that's what I'm thinking about.
