Just want to add that landing at Dutch Harbor is not as simple as you’d think being that Ballyhoo creates tailwinds from both sides. It’s topography that shifted the winds (NW winds out of there are scary) that caused it. The way they landed allowed an easier go-around being the “front door” entrance.

However, I agree: they should’ve gone around and headed back to Cold Bay. Plus, the Captain should’ve attempted the landing being that it was a captains only landing. I knew the FO
