Regarding the koolaid of having never furloughed a pilot, is that not because SWA remained profitable throughout the crises they faced? It would have been unconscionable to furlough.

Without wishing to denigrate that accolade, or the SWA culture (great bunch, from my encounters), this is obviously a very different ballgame.
