Turns out the 2017-2018 flu season in the US was the worst with regards to deaths in the last decade: It was responsible for 61,000+ deaths in the US. Damn, thats a lot! But, I suspect it's beyond your mental capacity to recognize that 61,000 figure was attained over an entire flu season, with no one really giving an F about it and going about their daily lives.
Now, COVID has only disposed of 45,000+ people in the US. But, think really hard about this: That figure was reached inside of 60 days with the majority of the American population put on high alert using a combination of government lockdown mandates, social distancing efforts and shuttered businesses.
