Currency issues only apply if the fleet comes back. After 9/11 airlines parked the older planes like the 727 and the DC-10 very fast and furloughed at the same time. It could be that training crews during a time when pilots aren’t needed is a possibility that could allow them to retire a fleet with one chop. With revenue expected to be near zero for April-June, their 70% revenue expectations this fall could turn out to be optimistic. If Kirby meant what he said, the 756 could be retired fairly soon. It could just as easily be put into storage for a month or two to wait and see.
