this is a valid point. There will come a time when the Heathrow slots will again become use em or lose em. Of course United could choose to sell them but that would be very short sighted. Those slots are the most valuable in all of aviation.
It'll be awhile before that's a problem, especially if it comes to fruition that the UK govt allows Virgin Atlantic to go belly up.
