You guys may want to go out and try and dig up the "furlough mitigation" LOA disguised as a joint venture flying agreement that CAL management nearly got through the CAL MEC in order to just save 147 from furlough.
1. it was NOT to be voted on by the pilots
2. had a promise NOT to furlough unless "economic conditions warranted it."
3. subbed out flying to regional "partners" and other unspecified companies.
There is a HUGE danger in trying to get management to come and throw a bone to the pilots. What management would want in exchange for "saving" pilot jobs would be huge. So, huge in fact that a 50 hour line value wouldn't cut it. Remember, jet fuel is super cheap right now.
It's just math. The math says the load factors aren't high enough to put planes in the sky and fly them around empty right now. You could work for free and it would still end up costing the company money to fly planes around empty.

The pilots are economic widgets here. We are simply part of the math equation. Nothing more, nothing less.
Everyone top to bottom on this seniority list needs to dust off their resume and get ready for worst case. Scott Kirby has not impressed me yet. We are at his and Oscar's mercy. Whatever decision-making and wisdom they exercise will have an impact on everyone in the boat. All we can do is grab an oar and row when we are called for a trip to go out and fly.
We need to stay in our lane so to speak. We can't save the company. The stock buy-back IS NOT water under the bridge. It is a daily reminder of what prudence, and caution are to companies this big. Nothing is ever too big to fail. A company this size with this scale cannot withstand a major economic event with ease. We bleed zero's faster and with more velocity than many other competitors who are leaner and meaner that we are.
The company never asked the pilots about this stock buy back did they? I wonder why...... The 50 hour line crap is offensive to me and it should be to everyone else.
