I'm in LA county and one observation I've made is a solid HALF (if not more) of the mask wearers I've seen do it improperly. Nose exposed because the mask is slightly pulled down. Probably so they can breathe easier. Mouth uncovered. Mask hanging from chin. Mask bands not properly placed, keeps mask loose and sliding down. Touching their mask and adjusting it constantly. Touching their nose and eyes.
I'll just be honest and say masks at this point are nothing more than a visual confirmation and appeasement that we are doing 'something' in order to feel safe about the virus when we go out. It sure as heck doesn't look effective the way it's being done right now!
That visual confirmation is what passengers are concerned with going forward regardless of the "effectiveness" of the masks. We need those passengers to feel safe so they can fly and let us keep our jobs. So I'm all for it if it means getting more peeps on our planes.
