They pick when to put out the notice. They can put out the notice any time after June 3, and avoid training anyone with a furlough date of October 1. After October 1, they only have to give 30 days notice. If they give notice at the earliest possible time, they will have 3.5 months to train a bunch of NB pilots. Depending on demand, they may be able to chop a bunch on the first, and just keep training the survivors until they catch up. I’m really hoping that demand comes back to a level that greatly reduces all of this, but outside of making sure that the company follows the contract, there is nothing we can do about it. Also, as has been mentioned by others, a displacement of X, doesn’t mean they will also furlough that many. Many analysts believe that international flying will be the last to recover. Shifting unused widebody pilots to narrowbody while max deliveries come in could result in much lower numbers if demand is recovering. If demand doesn’t recover they could furlough even more in subsequent rounds. Not trying to be a jerk, but since you said that you’re a half winger, I’d plan on a certain furlough around October.
