It does work out for some, though not all. Both me and my spouse got furloughed from our dream job at a major, no money saved, a baby and a toddler, and we were devastated. No skills other than flying and waiting tables. Got picked up by another carrier that was a much better fit. We would have never left on our own volition. We felt like it was the end of the world, but it wasn’t. I wouldn’t wish a furlough on anyone, but sometimes it leads to better things.
