Sitting in cruise for 5 hours next to a pilot that has no interests outside of airplanes, complains about his ex-wife, nothing seems to make him happy, has poor social skills and yet still wants to meet up for dinner or drinks on our layover in newark. Nothing is more satisfying than sitting there quietly eating my possibly spoiled crew meal, staring out the window wondering what my wife and kids are up to, realizing it’s only leg one of a 4 day trip all while watching the clock sloooooowly click a minute away. What a rush this job can be!

Disclaimer, this is the rare experience for me and i genuinely really enjoy my trips and guys i fly with. But there are those times like above when all the enjoyment of the job comes to a halt when your fellow pilot just hates life.
