To see who can survive and be the most responsive to whatever their needs happen to be at any given moment. That's how this works.

In the short run, performance will be primarily gauged by cutting costs to match revenue.

You might be exactly correct, but then again, I don't think we should give up just yet and act like our performance is irrelevant. We don't know that yet. All I'm saying is none of us really knows if we even have a shot in the long run, but we might, so we ought to try to survive the short run.
