if they don’t announce furloughs until 30 days prior, that 2001st pilot and 500 more pilots (CLazurus or LeeFDX can scour the seniority list) get man-for-man pay protection until the furlough of all the junior displaced pilots is announced.
it’s significant because Unless you’re getting bumped off the 756, the company is going to save money bumping you. I think the tough part for the company is knowing where to start training. They say they want to stay flexible, because obviously the next real hurdle is whether or not we have to shutdown again on the fall. IMHO, no fall shutdown (and 1. the blue governors who want to F Trump open up their states 2. The red states who Naively thought they were safe don’t see big spikes) means we’ll be at 80+% next summer. If we have to shutdown this winter, the whole economy, including airlines is going to be in a world of hurt.
Okay. That was long. I’m not doing SSC work so don’t get into the finer points of 8-F-5 tracking.
Now, regarding furloughs, I expect a large group to get notified early Jun. if you want my guess, 2300 and I won’t go into my math. I’ll just call it an educated WAG. Such an announcement would be inside the 120 max notification restriction and at the same time relieves the company from having to train them. They stay in their current BES until 1 Oct. However, until 1 Oct they do provide a man for man protection for those senior in the displaced BES prior to a 1 Oct furlough. They are still active until furloughed.
Any additional furlough announcements can be withheld until the time necessary to meet the required notification minimum based on the pilots DOH.
And I hate even thinking much less typing these numbers. Just giving an honest assessment. I am not privy to any MEC discussions that may have happened on this topic.
I really hope my WAG is wrong.
