As for being hopeful, I'm not. ALPA's briefings have included the very real likelihood of rolling waves of CV-19 and varying state reactions to them. Rolling waves will equal rolling shutdowns and stay at home orders. People, like it or not will be afraid. And the damage to our economy alone will keep people from spending money on vacations etc. I think this will ultimately be a crap sandwich for everyone. SWA is positioned to weather this the best. But we simply do not know the future and this is shaping up to fundamentally change air travel forever. There will be no, "return to normal".
Air travel changed forever and no return to normal ever?!? Yes ppl will prob have to have temp screenings and such for traveling from now on. But to act like that will keep ppl from traveling forever is over the top. Cruise bookings for August are up 200% year over year. People want to travel. Of course there will be setbacks along the way but I think you are painting an overly pessimistic outcome. Short term pain for sure, but if ppl were willing to travel with the BS TSA forces on them, then temp screenings aren’t goong to stop them either.
