There is no scope protection, however AS pilots, mechanics, and ALPA in general will occasionally remind the company they will burn the place to the ground if they proceed on certain items...management decided it wasn't worth the disruption in Alaska (pilots and mx up there are a different breed) and did not go through with the mx base.
