I happen to have two furloughs under my belt during my “20” years at United. And no, I did not whine on any forums trying to convince others that concessions were in the best interest of the pilot group to save pilot jobs and/or United from BK. I never once played the “shame game” by posting on social media that senior pilots were selfish, and not team players, for not voluntarily cutting their guarantee/pay to save my pink butt. This industry is like a roller coaster... and how your career ends up is based purely on luck and when you hop on the ride... some choose better than others. What I did learn over the years is that the company doesn’t want or need more pilots than required to fly a full schedule... noticed I said full... not a partial schedules.
