Senior pilots who stay employed are giving up money to help junior pilots who are furloughed with benefits. We all agree that’s a good idea.
So why is it so much different for senior pilots to give up a few hours to help junior pilots who were going to be furloughed stay employed? Reduced hours does not help the company one bit. They are manning up for bare bones minimum staffing required. If we agree to fly less, less pilots will have to be furloughed.
25% ish cut to min guarantee and United may not have to furlough anyone. Why are so many people against this simple concept, especially when they already support the concept of giving up a furlough assessment to help out with benefit costs!
How about we all take a 50% pay cut then maybe we can start hiring again.
