The people in the program are qualified too, of course others that were denied are better than me. I also overreacted. It was the best day of my life when I found out I was a part of this and on track to join a Legacy airline. Now I have to look for a job outside of the career I love while simultaneously reading about how all the individuals in the program (me) are now worthless comparatively to others possibly for 5+ years. So sorry about the mean response but I’m still a guy chasing the dream too.
Taxi To,
If this career is really what you want, keep chasing that dream.
Getting into the program was a huge accomplishment, and the unexpected COVID-19 impact was a disappointing set back. The airline career can be a bumpy one at times, but also very rewarding as well.
The demand for quality pilots will most likely resume in full force as the industry simultaneously recovers and deals with a large number of retirements at the same time.
The movement following the recovery very well could be one of the most impressive on record for several airlines.
Aviate is a beneficial program, and I am sure the company wants to keep it intact if they can. Surviving the downturn is the main focus for the company right now, but they will try to honor commitments when they can.
Make the best of the current situation, and get ready to ride the next wave; it should be a big one.
