I just got this book now too. Pappy Gunn was mentioned a lot in “Race of Aces”. Evidently he modified several B25’s with a ton of forward facing machine guns and cannons for strafing Japanese bases in the South Pacific islands.
I think he was the first one to install a 75mm in a B-25, lost a couple of kts. every time it fired.
