I am also concerned about this. It would seem that if our personal status quo was to use the UAL insurance i should be allowed to continue to use the UAL insurance assuming im not working. If I'm forced to use my wife's insurance not only have i lost 100% of my income my wife is now out about 20% of her pay as well. As you stated if this is the case its a double kick in the nuts. I understand there may have been abuse in the past but there needs to be more clarity on who is not eligible. It would also suck to pay into a system (albeit for only a few months), have a legitimate need for that program but not have access to it.
An email from the MEC came out today clarifying this issue. We are eligible to recoup the cost of spouse’s insurance, Tri-Care, etc. Phew! One less thing to worry about.
