Your post sounds like your confusing test for the virus vs test for the antibodies. He was referring to his wife having tested positive for having the antibodies and presumed she already had the virus at some point in the past and didn't know it so HE must have had it in the past and didn't know it. IF he has the antibodies for THIS virus now, he's safe, as in he can't get it or spread it.
However, there appears to be an accuracy problem with many of the antibody tests out there. A lot are giving false positives.
