A couple of premium pay 787 trips could possibly offset a job or two of a Gate Agent, a new hire FA, or a Line job. You see I think about other people and not just myself. So it could possibly be to the cost of another. Just not another pilot. It's not like we aren't well paid already.
Lastly, if the goal is to minimize cash burn - then minimize cash burn. But I'm only interested in two-way thoughtful, respectfull dialogue. So please excuse yourself from this one.
Thanks for the other thoughtful responses - I can see it from some of those points as well.
PP has replaced the forced Junior Man flying that we used to have; getting forced to fly a trip on days off or other time that the UPA would not have allowed. PP is a tool the company can use to cover flying with
volunteers that they don't have reserves lined up for.
PP is the carrot, JRM was the stick. Using PP is a much better option for the pilot group.
The company won't use any PP money to save a single gate agent's job; it does not work like that here. They will just pocket the cash and return to assigning junior pilots on days off to force the flying.
If you remove the carrot, that leaves the stick. Be very careful what you ask for...
