Where we are now is social distancing and wearing masks because we are not ok with shutting it down again. But if we don’t follow that either taking off masks and joining the group parties then this will go on for a long time maybe even few shutdowns and openings again.
Something that seems to be missed with regards to NYC is the fact that many buildings have common ventilation systems. The entire building a/c is on, or the entire building heat is on. The duct work is common throughout. Somebody sneezes in one apartment? The whole building gets a taste.
Compound that with the heavy reliance on the subway system, it seems like a recipe for disaster. Perhaps a one size fits all response doesn't actually fit.
