Serious question: Why don’t I read a thread like this each month (I’ll admit it has been a while for us here at United) from Delta pilots? They had a similar merger with NW. Heck, you don’t even hear the old US Air pilots at AA sounding off anymore like we the former CAL and L-UAL on this board. Relative seniority VS Longevity VS Career Expectations were all components argued for by the respective merger committees and the arbitration went very close to the L-UAL proposal. Not sure who the flame throwers on the CAL side are here in this thread but most I talk to (former CAL) have left this in the rear view years ago. I understand the frustration the ‘97-2001 L-UAL guys/gals have towards the CAL 2005 hires that got a good deal in the SLI. I would feel the same way (and may yet still one day when we merge with another carrier with younger pilots). This displacement, and the subsequent downgrades and furloughs is a real downer. I feel it too but let’s not let this event cause us to turn on each other 10 years after the merger that made our two airlines stronger with the ability to weather this better than we would have standing alone.
