Same boat, same plan. People have different life situations and different priorities. Nothing wrong with that. I commend the people who can/will uproot the fam and move to the sticks in order to chase a flying gig. I spent my time in the military moving all over christ’s creation, and now that I’m out—nope. Not doing it anymore unless it’s in a desirable locale and/or lucrative. Everyone has their line in the sand, and that one is mine.

If you've got the hours and ratings, and you’re sitting on a good career in a location you like with a stable family life? Hard to justify shaking that up in order to fly jumpers and eat ramen in a place you hate. I say let it ride, stay current, take whatever local part time flying gigs you can find, and see how the industry shakes out in a couple years.

I would obviously have different advice for the 22 year old Riddle grad with a backpack of clothes on his back and a ‘will fly for food’ bumper sticker on his car. In that case, go live the dream while you’re young and single, and go chase those hours wherever they can be found...
