The current bid that is out shows 11661 active pilots including 51 retirements through 7/31. There are another 320 retirements through next summer. If they want us at 7779 to start the summer 2021 schedule, that is a reduction of 3882 active pilots, minus the additional 320 retirements comes to a 3562 pilot reduction. Of course, that doesn’t take into account any voluntary furloughs or any other leaves offered.

I believe the total pilot reduction in the calculations you listed above is missing the word
active.
In the process of reducing active pilots, they will also furlough all the inactive pilots that are junior to the most senior active pilot remaining. There are probably around 200 pilots that are flight instructors, FM's, on Military orders or out on LTD that would also get notices
IF that was the total
active pilot reduction.
Hope this whole thing turns around much faster than they think it will.
