Do they upgrade FO's to captain as soon as they have the minimums or how does that process work?

Thank you for your help

When I did it many moons ago, you had to meet the mins, have 3 LORs etc. Prior to that, about 100 hrs, you notified CPO and you were setup for a 3 or 4 day upgrade evaluation. Flown from the right seat. You do the flight planning and decision making etc and you're evaluated. Pretty straigh forward. After that your recommended for upgrade. When you hit your time, you again notify CPO and you are then awarded an upgrade class. You'll do a week long ground school followed by a written test covering MSPECS and OPSPECS and other company business. Once that is done, you then go out for upgrade cycles. You'll go out with an IP for 2 or 3 rotations flying from the left and covering a bunch of items verbally and flying. You'll then go to sims in Dallas. You'll go for 4 sims and a checkride. Once you pass, you'll go back for a line check then back out with an IP for 2 or so rotations. Then you're cut loose to fly with non-green FOs. Until you reach your 100 hours then its whomever they put with you. Pretty straight forward. Thorough but fair.
