I rather be a UNA with 60hrs a month, than searching for a job or collecting unemployment and depleting our savings. But that’s just me, the flying will be back, we have the retirements that will take care of overstuffing by 2022.

I rather see our NHs getting payed, than in the street without recency. Or the military guys going back to active, we could all enjoy time with our families waiting for the call back next year.

this is temporary, the ALV will be high again by next summer.
I get it. I’d rather have been paid UNA at 60 then be furloughed for almost 6 years... but that’s an effin pipe dream that won’t work in the real world. We have to cut staff and get real lean. The boogeyman is still lurking and Covid ain’t going away. Keeping one extra at a reduced rate is bad business. I want Delta to be lean and mean, even if we have to furlough so I have a company to retire from and you have a company that’s strong to come back to and retire from.

This rhetoric about keeping tons of extras while the rest of us subsidize your paycheck will not float or will it be allowed by the company. People cost a lot before they do an hour’s work... keeping 100 when you need 80 is just plain stupid business acumen.

Furloughs suck. I know. But it’s time to face the reality that this thing is here and headcount will get trimmed. I’m sure we will cover medical for furloughs. But I want Delta to be strong, lean and profitable. We will work hard while the furloughs are out... we will hopefully draw the line and have a good contract to come back to, unlike what happened to us after returning from furloughs post 9/11... that contract was horrible and we are still working under some of those cuts.
