The article is misleading, there was a single sample from Mar 2019 that tested positive for a Novel type Coronavirus, they are working to confirm it was Covid19. Several other universities are doing the same thing. I would bet there is a 99.9% chance that it is not SARS2, and it's a different Coronavirus, or it's contamination/experimental error.
Entirely possible. But still, the issue was the date, not the sample source.
