We're talking about people's lives here. And those that want to downplay it and say that everything is cool now that we're only losing 500 a day is losing sight of what matters.

Every number is someone's family member. A father. A son. A mother. A daughter. Every number had a story, with highs and lows. And it was a story that was cut short because of this nation's inability to come together and work the problem as a team.

We should all be ashamed.
8000 people die every day in the US and there isn’t a damn thing you, I, or anyone else can do about it. With a population of a third of a BILLION and a life expectancy of 80 years it could scarcely be otherwise. And every one of that number is someone's family member. A father. A son. A mother. A daughter. Every number haD a story, with highs and lows.

And every kid we keep out of school, or that we don’t get vaccinated on time because we have nonemergency services locked down, every cancer that doesn’t get diagnosed as soon as it MIGHT have been diagnosed, all those things have a very real human cost too. The millions overseas at risk of dying from famine as the world economy collapses are real people too.

For an illness that has a survival rate in excess of 99.6% and - at the 42% level - has hit people in long term care facilities where the death rate BEFORE COVID was 35% per year.

You don’t have a monopoly on the moral high ground here, WutFace, no matter what you think. Others can honestly hold differing opinions while being neither morally bankrupt nor inhuman monsters.
