The airlines are not at war and this isn’t a mission that must happen at any cost. I’d be shocked if Flight Operations doesn’t already have their request to get this extension changed permanently. Why not? If it’s safe to do it with passengers now, surely it’s safe all the time. Safety first, FAA & Airlines for America, right? I’d have liked to see ALPA coming out totally against this extension, but I never heard a peep. Perhaps I missed their Call to Action on that one. Now we deal with possible extension pushing.
Im not totally sure about this. The FAA offered 60 day extensions and the company only took 30.
At the same time, the implementation has been terrible. It’s been handled like all delta things, you are auto extended until you say otherwise. How you say you are not extending and who to tell has been a mystery. Now, there are only about 4 offices we deal with so calling pilot assist would like you get in the right direction. Same as the VEOP rollout. Slow and inaccurate information causing confusion and rumors to take over. Add in some mistrust from past wrongs and it’s a recipe for the sh!t show we are now seeing.
