I'm surprised anyone here would be excited at a merger right now.
As of today (this stuff changes hourly it seems) I've never been happier to not be at a legacy carrier. Our benefit is our size at the moment, and the ability to capitalize on markets where the big guys are struggling and bleeding money. Also while I'd love a West Coast expansion and a merger with someone like Alaska, I want nothing to do with their farmed out regional flying/lack of scope. Those guys are losing their jobs because management decided they'd rather have Skywest fly a 175 on a 3hr flight at half the cost, than pay their actual employees.
