In a recent corporate video, the SVP Fleet Supply Chain talked about future fleet simplification. He said we currently have 13 fleet families and 25 fleet types, and they're looking to take us down to 8 and 13 respectively. I wonder what the guesses are as to what we'll end up with.
Currently we have, recently had, or orignally planned to soon have:
1. 717
2a. 737-700*
2b. 737-800
2c. 737-900ER
3a. 757-200
3b. 757-300
4a. 767-300ER
4b. 767-400ER
5a. 777-200*
5b. 777-200LR*
6a. A220-100
6b. A220-300
7a. A319
7b. A320
7c. A321
7d. A321Neo
8a. A330-200
8b. A330-300
8c. A330-900Neo
9. A350
10a. MD-88*
10b. MD-90*
11a. CRJ-200
11b. CRJ-700
11c. CRJ-900
12a. ERJ-170
12b. ERJ-175
* are already announced retirements. I'm not sure where he gets 13/25, as that's 12/27 and is what's shown on the fleet information page. Anyways, I'm wondering what the conjecture is on how we go from that to 8/13?
My wholly uneducated guess, without looking at anything like scope, aircraft age, or fleet count:
