this is just posturing for another bail out. Just like united sending out 35000 yesterday. United knows good and well, they arent furloughing half their workforce. But this causes panic, and gets the media and politicians involved. Voila-another airline stimulus!
They may not plan on furloughing half initially Comoany-Wide, but the certainly will be close with the FAs. Nobody I know at UAL is as confident as you that they won't furlough 50% over the next 18-24 months depending on how this plays out.
