Seriously. This “get your house in order” crap gets really old. How is someone supposed to prepare for losing a six figure income job exactly? Go ahead and fly a little extra now. How long will that little bit of extra income hold you over for? An extra month tops? Give me a break. Short of selling your house and everything you own there is NOTHING you can do about going from airline pilot income to unemployment.

This is stressful enough as it is on everyone. We can do without the smug “prepare now” comments that usually come from people far outside the furlough danger zone. With that being said..AA is still in a position where furloughing pilots may not happen. An overage of 1300 or so for the next year is not an earth shattering number. Particularly if demand starts to pick up in 2021. A number of companies are talking about a vaccine being ready by January, and that will be a watershed moment.
