The exact same deal at United would have less takers because of age demographics. Nothing else. Delta and American just have more pilots that are in the old age groups eligible to take. Also, pilots at Delta and American are mostly just guppy and airbus captains, so a lot of guys flying 777 and 787 Captain with a sweet lifestyle aren’t as likely to take it.
Gotta be an !diot not to take it. Getting in the vicinity of $20,000 to stay at home and not do squat for the next three years. Name a job in America right now that will give you that amount to relax at home? And if rumors are true, you’ll also get 40% of your sick time. Now what will be the pay difference if someone elected not to take it, lose their medical for the next three years until retirement, I’m sure the money would be a lot less at the end.
