I agree. But I don’t agree that it means more furloughs. Pilot Manning is driven by two things. Block hours and crew complement (augmented flying).
Also, recalls are done in seniority order. Not furlough plus takers before straight furloughs.
Its a voluntary option that may appeal to some. If it works great. If it doesn’t then move on.
