i think the difference is that this time it wasn’t a concession hoping to avoid furloughs. It was a negotiation with reduced reserve days, a specific end date, and a no-furlough clause. That clause WILL prevent furloughs, at least through April.
It’ll be interesting to see who sits reserve and therefore has the 5 hour reduction. If it’s senior guys hoping to not fly, it’s by choice. If it’s junior guys stuck with it, they’re probably the guys who would’ve been furloughed otherwise. Seems mostly win-win.
