In the past the company has said that D3 charges were to cover the cost of the flight and to be cost neutral, at least something to that effect. So with this super cheap fares either we are flying at a loss or the company is making money on Non-Revs.Which is it. Yeah these fares under $50 aren't new. I saw a few fares last year (PHL-MCO) for under $30.
To be honest, I rarely give out any passes. To much of a headache for the traveler and non-reving is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

The previous poster beat me to the voucher thing.
The cares act repealed the tax on tickets and federal tax on jet fuel. I’m sure the non-rev fees will not get updated since the taxes come back next year and AA is losing billions. Just be happy since usair took over AA, employees no longer have to pay to sit in coach while commuting to work.
