IS a sports car.
But if price to fun is what you care about, I can do you one better. My first track car was a 1993 Miata. $4,000 car with roll cage, $5,000 supercharger, and finally 2 sets of tires ($2,000). $11,000 for a 2,100 lbs car with 270 horsepower was a great way to get into racing... As long as you aren't taller than 6 feet.
On top of it, when I wrecked it in a turn, I was just out $400 for a new fender and control arm. Now if I did that in my previous Z06, I probably would have been too depressed (and broke) to ever get on a track again.
