I am sure Jerry’s son – who runs market development – knows it and will make it scope compliant. Or you can point it out to him – just in case…
Bottom line, they have some of headroom until the 12 month look back starts to capture COVID schedule reductions and it will get progressively worse as the look back includes more months with little mainline flying. This will not fall apart
Oct 1 but will get progressively worse for UAX.
As a PSA and easy reference, here is the quick guide to the most relevant UAX scope limitations with contract reference:
All UAX flying is subject to scope - 1-C-1
Hull Count (given the current fleet structure)
Unlimited 37 seat turbo prop operations 1-C-1-a-(2)-(a)
50 seat aircraft up to 90% of single aisle aircraft in the mainline fleet 1-C-1-a-(2)-(b)
255 70/76 seat aircraft of which up to 153 can be 76 seat aircraft 1-C-1-a-(2)-(c)
Block Hour Limits 1-C-1-f-(1)
No limitation to 37 seat turbo prop block hours
Any rolling 12 months UAX block hours cannot exceed 120% of narrow body mainline block hours
Note that there is no differentiation between 50/70/76 seaters. The table shown in 1-C-1-f-(1) just accommodates a schedule in case of UA adding a NEW small narrowbody. That hasn’t happened yet so we are at 153 76 seaters and 120% of block.
