I can't believe that anyone thinks voluntarily taking a cut will do anything. Didn't the industry learn that the hard way in the early 2000's?
Gives them hope of keeping a job instead of being on the street with 5-10, and maybe considerably more, thousand overqualified pilots with no hope for part 121 hiring within the next 3 years. If you honestly believe that if your carrier where to close its doors in the next 3 months that you would be able to apply at another carrier and get a job you are in for a very rude awakening.
