That’s like saying I asked a hot chick from work out and she said no. So I’ll just be single forever.
You think every qualified pilot will make it to a major? You have NOOOO clue. Some will make some won't period. Yes try to check the boxes if you can. Make your self marketable. Set yourself up for success I agree. It's no guarantee you will make it. I use to be you 23 years ago. ERAU grad cream of the crop. I tried military, two tall waiver needed. Went to charter and flight instruction. Built some hours multi engine hours. Interviewed at Colgan. First step right. Well guess what September 11, happened. Sucked. NO AIRLINE JOBS. I went to corporate. 2007 started putting apps out there competing with military guys at the time. Went to job fairs, hustling. Had two interviews lined up at Continental Express and Pinnacle. 2008 Economics threw a curve ball. Guess what NO AIRLINE JOBS. I stay corporate for stability. 2015 hits over 8000 hours of flight time most of it corporate. I once again throw apps out. jetBlue calls tells me yes would love to have me but now the issue is no 121 time. Ughhhh. I apply to regionals. Mesa only with no reserve time. I jump over here expecting to be here a year TOPS. I reapply to jetBlue countless times, crickets. I interviewed at Frontier, Spirit, United twice, on-site interviews with FedEx and UPS. 13000 hours flight time over 70% jet time. Great track record, no DUI, degree, I interview well, polished, charming, funny, Mr by the Book. You get to where I am and see you write. "Look in the mirror to whom to blame". Maybe you got lucky and got the dream job. Cudos to you. I'm closer to the backside of this career than I am the front side. I've been like others hit with unfortunate career road blocks. I look in the mirror and say I gave it a good run and still will give it a run. Before you start judging, understand the dynamics of this industry. Some will make it some won't. Period
