While I see significant and heartening sentiment industry-wide to hold the line in the face of furloughs, a liquidation with permanent job loss is a different wolf at the door. The soon-to-furloughed major pilots can somewhat safely assume there's a light and recall at the end of the tunnel. Might get recalled to a different paint job, but still probably getting recalled.
Agreed, which is why my original post specifically stated I can understand their willingness and harbor no ill will. This reply was specifically to a claim that EV pilots holding the line is somehow a grandiose and meaningless gesture.

A scenario where EV guts their CBA and somehow gets below C5, resulting in C5 being shuttered would set the entire profession back. This isn’t just about regionals, the cost gap was closing to the point that whipsaws and outsourcing were losing their appeal, consolidation and even mild insourcing was happening. That was important to every pilot from student to 777 CA.

Here again I will reiterate that I can understand the impossible dilemma laid at senior EV pilots feet, but we shouldn’t lose perspective of the context and far reaching scale of such decisions.
