"never cross a picket line" is a golden rule. but it really works well when you support everyone in the union with more than words of empathy.
How about no "concessions" by no reduction of ALV, but the union increases dues by 15% of a paycheck (totalling 17%) with all of the extra collection to support furloughed pilots? Then the company is still paying the same amount, line pilots are still making what they would if concessions were made (but are still holding the company's "feet to the fire"), and furloughed pilots are supported as if they had the same concessionary wages. Holding a line on the company and supporting the fraternal cause.
as each pilot comes off furlough, union dues are reduced senior to junior on the list. Just a crazy idea.
I have an even BETTER idea: How about the union increasing the dues 98% (totaling 100%) and just giving you what they think you deserve, and giving the rest to furloughed pilots at Delta (or maybe SW or better yet JB or AK)? There’s democracy in action.
