At Plane Sense crash pads are not a cost of doing business because we are either home or at a hotel paid for by the company.
Their point is that they would get a crash pad within the 2 hour reserve window so they can sit home standby there instead of 2.5 hours away at their actual home. What they want to know is if this will satisfy the basing requirement without them having to move their primary residence. A fair question.
I don’t know the bases anymore but lets say MDW is a base but DSM isn’t. Lets say this poster lives near DSM, but is willing to get a crash pad and drive there to spend their “home standby” within the 2 hour window.
I don’t think he’s asking for special treatment, just if he has to actually “live” within the 2 hour callout or if simply always being within 2 hours of the actual base will suffice.
