I don’t know the bases anymore but lets say MDW is a base but DSM isn’t. Lets say this poster lives near DSM, but is willing to get a crash pad and drive there to spend their “home standby” within the 2 hour window.



I don’t think he’s asking for special treatment, just if he has to actually “live” within the 2 hour callout or if simply always being within 2 hours of the actual base will suffice.
Very fair question, but this would be a total waste of money. Remote based pilots generally do their "home standby" in PSM. Ymmv....
