A company that files bankruptcy is not the same as one that ceases operations.

All of the majors are in such a financial position (current cash on hand) that they would restructure just like DAL, NW, UAL, and CAL did in the first decade of the 2000’s if they were to declare bankruptcy.

With bankruptcy, management would just have the ability to right size the company and contracts to more accurately reflect the current market conditions.

The airlines would still be there for recovery. Just smaller and better suited to survive the present tragedy.
