When SkyWest sold XJT to Mana/UA they made a deal with UA that they’d get the next batch of 25 175’s. When Mesa bought their own 20 some 175’s to replace their -700’s that pretty much killed the 175 operation at XJT due to SkyWest likely threatening UA for not following up on that agreement. Combination of not staffing the 175 correctly, Sick Calls, SkyWest/Mesa AND the TSA shutdown is what did it for us.
The Skywest deal was to give OO
priority on those frames. There was no guarantee of any kind, ever.
XJT shutting down is very basic... we fly 50 seaters, we have a ton of pilots a ton more than UA sees a need for thanks to reduced 50 seater need, and we’re the most expensive 50 seater pilots....
