The problem with this specific issue “class of service” is how would you re-write it? To go down that path is to create new unforeseen issues. A good example is how are we to know how the airlines will reclassify their seat configurations post COVID?

You always sound to me like you are speaking from a position of fear. You sound to me like you are too scared to change ANYTHING in our contract other than pay rates. Is that so? Do you not want them to improve anything else? Is there anything? Or am I misjudging you?

The RLA was written to protect commerce, not labor. If that’s what you mean. But a strike was obviously never a position anyone took over it. First class tickets and lay flat seats won’t interrupt commerce or even FedEx specifically if they were forced to comply in a way ALPA argued in the grievance. I do believe that arbitrators unnecessarily give too much deference to management in grievances.
